They are used in tasks such as excavation, demolition, concrete breaking, foundation laying, channeling, road construction and mining as well as in works such as digging and filling, soil applications, excavation, construction waste removal and landscaping.

Track-types are available in weights from 1.5 to 90 tons while wheeled excavators are available in weights from 14 to 25 tons. Amphibious excavators are also available for use in sea surface services. They are used with crusher equipment in firm soil. Handling, compactor, bucket, grooving and sheet piling attachments can be used.
